Study Time
How to get the most out of your professor?
- Introduce yourself so they know you.
- Speak up in class no matter what you have to say — say it.
- Go to class, even if you haven't done your homework. It tells your prof that you want to learn.
- First year students ALWAYS try to outsmart the prof and they ALWAYS get shot down.
- Professors will meet you after class during office hours. Go see them. They're waiting for you.
Can you study with a hangover?
- No. You're tired, groggy, can't concentrate, feel lousy. Not the time to study.
- I'd like to say yes; I've done it, but you're not at your best.
Any study tips?
- Always listen. Prepare.
- Take good notes. Not everything the professor says 'cuz you'll lose track of what he's saying.
- Don't procrastinate. Treat school as a job.
- Get rid of MSN. You cannot concentrate with MSN. It's like a drug.
- Study groups help. Look for the eager beavers in class and hang out with them because they know their stuff.
- I don't like study groups. I like peace and quiet.
- Cue cards are helpful. Terms on one side, definitions on the other.
- If you're going to study — study. Put away all other distractions and don't let your friends in the room.
What's better: Cramming or Reviews?
- Review everything right after class.
- Daily reviews are better although cramming is more common.
- Reading your books is essential.
